Lanu Carvajal is an Italian- Chilean artist. Lanu works with the properties of humble and found materials to create a dialogue between the works in the space, and the viewer. Lanu takes influence from her mixed heritage, her Native American roots, and her Sicilian background to inspire her through the process of making. In her works, Lanu has addressed social issues such as Mental Health and the strength of young women growing up in the UK. For her latest on going project about the strength of women she has worked in collaboration with other performers. For each performer she has asked a different question, and asked them to move within a space with each a different symbol related to the theme of Rebirth.
In some of her projects, Lanu has used sound as in her piece ‘La Vucciria’, intrigued how the vendors spoke in verse to sell their merchandise in the narrow market streets of Palermo, Sicily.
