Artists & Illustrators is delighted to be back with The British Art Prize 2024. Enter today for the chance to win some fabulous prizes, have your work exhibited at a major London gallery and be featured in the magazine.

This major international art competition will expose winning artists of all levels to a far-reaching platform to gain valuable publicity and recognition for their work. Open to everyone – whether you’re an amateur, emerging or professional artist – all styles, media* and techniques will be considered. 

The British Art Prize offers an unprecedented level of national exposure and the chance for artists to sell their artwork to a combined audience of almost a million art lovers and collectors. There is also a whopping prize fund worth more than £10,000 which includes cash prizes and the chance to be included in the exhibition at gallery@oxo from 4-8 December 2024. Shortlisted artists will also be invited to a prestigious private view reception on 5 December 2024 alongside artists, collectors and other VIP guests. Everyone who enters will receive a +1 invitation to the exhibition, too.

Open to: – Artists must be over 18.
–  You must hold a formal practice-based qualification in the visual arts from a place of higher or further education (undergraduate or postgraduate level) within the UK. If you are unsure whether your programme of study is eligible, please get in touch. 
– You must have completed your course between 1 April 2019 and the closing date for 2024 submissions (2 September 2024).
Entry cost:  the first artwork is £20 and £17 for any additional artwork. You may enter up to 20 works.
Deadline: 26th of September 2024 
Prize: First Prize 
The overall winner of the British Art Prize will receive a £2000 cash prize, £750 worth of Derwent art materials plus a six-page feature in a future issue of Artists & Illustrators. The winning painting will be displayed at the exhibition at gallery@oxo from 4-8 December 2024. derwentart.com
Second Prize 
A £500 cash prize plus £750 worth of Staedtler products and inclusion in the Artists & Illustrators British Art Prize winners’ special issue where a branded 10-page editorial will include images of all the shortlist and winners. Third Prize 
A £500 Pegasus art supplies gift voucher, a £500 personalised Stabilo bundle and inclusion in the British Art Prize winners’ special issue where a branded 10-page editorial will include images of all the shortlist and winners. The People’s Choice Award

The Portraiture Prize
