BIOGRAPHY
Max Morey-Burrows, born in London, is an artist dedicated to drawing and printmaking. Fascinated by the agency and boundaries of storytelling through line and shade, his drawings are meditations on his readings of spiritual texts, scientific theory and thoughts. Harnessing chance, time and the metaphysical in his work, he aims to express his art via narratives and parables.
His practice is concerned with how we as humans relate to the interconnected universe, that surrounds and embodies us, and how we might best approach realizing it in its truest form. His work is a commentary on this fundamental, age-old human motive, to pursue a true understanding of reality. Through his exploration of these questions – from the perspectives of physics, anthropology and spirituality – Morey-Burrows aims to find conversations within these schools of thought, allowing for a wider perception of the natural world and our place within it.
Morey-Burrows recently held a solo show at the end of his residency at C4RD. He has worked as an artist assistant for Donna Huddlestone and Rob and Nick Carter. He is currently finishing his final year studying BA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins.
